Draft — pending legal & compliance review before launch
What you are agreeing to when you receive care online rather than in person.
Telehealth is the delivery of health care using communications technology rather than an in-person visit. Care through 20Science is primarily asynchronous: you complete a detailed medical intake, and a licensed clinician reviews it and makes a treatment decision without a real-time video or telephone appointment. In some cases a provider may request additional information, laboratory testing, or a live consultation before deciding.
Access to a licensed clinician without travel or an appointment; typically faster review than scheduling an in-person visit; discreet delivery; and continuity of care through messaging and refills.
You should understand the limits before consenting. A clinician evaluating you asynchronously cannot perform a physical examination, and relies entirely on the accuracy and completeness of what you report. Information you omit or misreport may lead to an inappropriate treatment decision. Technology can fail or be delayed. In rare cases a condition may be missed that an in-person examination would have identified. Telehealth is not appropriate for emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
By proceeding you confirm that: you have read and understood the above; you are at least 18 and physically located in the United States; the information you provide is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge; you understand a provider may determine that treatment is not appropriate for you; you understand you may withdraw this consent and stop treatment at any time, though that does not undo care already provided; and you understand you may request an in-person referral instead.
Care delivered by telehealth generates a medical record held to the same standards as in-person care. Handling of that record is described in our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.
